The Montreal Impact was founded in 1992 as a team in the American Professional Soccer League (APSL). The club quickly made its mark by winning the APSL championship in 1994, the first of many significant moments in its history. In 1998, the Impact made a successful transition to the newly formed USL A-League, where they continued to perform well, further solidifying their reputation in North American soccer. By 2010, the Impact expanded their horizons by entering Major League Soccer (MLS), marking a new chapter in their journey. The move was significant not only for the club but also for the growth of soccer in Canada, as the Impact became one of the first Canadian teams in the league alongside Toronto FC and Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

The Montreal Impact has a commendable record of achievements. In the domestic circuit, the club has won the Canadian Championship multiple times, with victories in 2002, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2013, and 2014, showcasing their dominance in Canadian soccer. The Canadian Championship victory allowed the Impact to compete in the prestigious CONCACAF Champions League, where they made a significant impact by reaching the semifinals in 2015.
